Research

Our residents may request research time during their CA-3 year. If interested in a research project, the resident should choose a faculty mentor in an area of interest.

Below are just a few examples of the areas of opportunity:

• Outcomes (Dr. Glance)
• Mitochondria (Drs. Robotham, Brooks)
• Respiratory Control (Drs. Ward, Karan, Norton)
• 3-D animation (Dr. Bigelesien)
• Sepsis/ARDS (Dr. Papadakos)
• Neuropathic pain (Dr. Dworkin)

The decision to allow research time is based on a resident’s demonstrated commitment to research, feedback from our Department’s Research Committee, and proven outstanding clinical skills.

Below is an example of a 6 month research project completed January, 2005 by Dr. Grimes in 3-D animation.
